Police: Trio arrested in Jeannette in connection to string of robberies

PITTSBURGH — Only Channel 11 was there when police surrounded a Jeannette pizza shop and took three people in custody.

Police said the people are connected to a string of robberies that targeted women.

The three were arrested on Clay Avenue.

On Thursday, Westmoreland County Assistant District Attorney Barb Jollie was robbed of her purse at a Hempfield Township shopping center.

Police said the veteran prosecutor was injured in the scuffle.

Other robberies and attempted robberies in North Huntingdon and Murrysville have been reported.

On Friday, eyewitnesses said the trio began unloading soda at a pizza shop. The restaurant has a hired vendor and got a delivery Thursday, so workers were puzzled.

"Within seconds, it was so quick.  I couldn't believe it because I was in and out, and before I knew it, the whole street was shut down with police and detectives," said witness Andrew Sinchar.

Police aren't sure what the trio planned to do with the soda.

The three are expected to be officially charged soon.
