Operation Walk Pittsburgh makes us Proud to be from Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — Every year, one group of orthopedic surgeons and nurses at UPMC Magee gets a special reminder of how lucky we are here in the United States.

They travel to South America with the nonprofit "Operation Walk Pittsburgh" to provide free knee and hip replacements – a place where walking is central to everyday life.

Dr. Anthony DiGioia founded the local chapter.

"If you talk to team members when they come back from trips, it really does impact them,” said DiGioia.

It's their decade of work that makes us Proud to be from Pittsburgh.
