Proud to be from Pittsburgh: Butler Co. students honor police officers with lunch, song

BUTLER CO., Pa. — A Butler County school honored police with a special lunch and song this week.

Sixty students at HIS Kids Christian School sang "The Ones In Blue" to nearly 20 police officers.

The school hosted the event for a second year as a way to teach the students how friendly officers are and also the importance of kindness.

"It's real special for us as police officers to take that time speak with the kids," said Trooper Dan Kesten. "A lot of our members are on patrol and crime and they have to deal with a lot of horrible things, and so times like this we really appreciate when we are invited to things like this."

The officers were from Pennsylvania State Police and the Butler Sheriff’s Office and sat and talked with the kids while they ate lunch.
