In the Sto-Rox area, there is a group more than 1,000 people strong committed to the idea that they can change their community for the better. It is led by Mike Egenlauf, who is constantly dreaming up ways to help his neighbors.
"I'm proud to say I'm from McKees Rocks, I'm from Stowe Township," Egenlauf told Channel 11's Peggy Finnegan.
That's why his community watch group wants to do all it can to make the community a great place to live. The most recent initiative involves posting boxes to get cigarette butts off street corners.

Channel 11 first introduced you to this group early this year after they cleared weeds from a school bus stop. The group also runs a roadside pantry, hands out free books and is planning a winter coat drive.
"I don't see us stopping any time soon," Egenlauf said.
He said he sometimes gets pushback from community members who don't think the little projects are focusing on the most pressing needs.
"If we have 1,500 members and they all do one little thing, that turns into a really big problem-solver," Egenlauf said.
The group gets approval from community leaders for the projects, but no funding help from government sources. To learn more about what the group is doing and its future projects, click here.
