Second teen charged with attempted murder following baseball bat beating

MONONGAHELA, Pa. — A 14-year-old is in the Washington County Jail, charged as an adult with attempted murder following an assault with a baseball bat that left another teen badly beaten.

Police said Jamie Watkins was arrested over the weekend in connection with the incident that occurred on Dec. 7. Watkins and another teen, Christopher Urista, allegedly broke into a home wearing masks and demanded a 19-year-old and his girlfriend give them money, marijuana and access to a safe.

A fight broke out, and Watkins and Urista allegedly used a baseball bat to beat the victim, causing severe head trauma, police said.

The second suspect in the case, Christopher Urista, is still on the run. Police said he has family in Claysville and West Virginia.
