3 men hurt when shots fired during fight inside Jefferson Hills bar

JEFFERSON HILLS, Pa. — Three men were hurt when shots were fired during a fight early Wednesday morning inside a bar in Jefferson Hills, police said.

Officers and paramedics were called about 1:30 a.m. to Rum Monkeys Pizza & Pub on State Street.

A 33-year-old man was found to have been shot in the back, police said. Two other men, ages 23 and 25, were hurt by bullet fragments.

The 33-year-old was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition. The other men were also taken to hospitals and were released after receiving treatment.

Detectives determined the men got into a fight, during which one of them pulled out a gun and fired shots inside the bar.

The bar was shut down after the incident, on one of the busiest nights of the year.

“I woke up. Caution tape all the way around the building,” said Maria Hillman who lives above the bar. “I’m from McKees Rocks so gunshots are my lullaby. I slept right through it, but it’s crazy. That don’t happen around here.”

The owner said the men involved are regulars and friends. He said something like this has never happened before at his establishment.
