4th Port Authority employee dies from COVID-19

ALLEGHENY CO., Pa. — Another Port Authority of Allegheny County employee has died from the coronavirus, making it four total since the pandemic began.

Port Authority didn’t identify the employee who died, but he had been hospitalized with the virus.

Officials said the 21-year veteran began his career as a bus operator before working various roles at the agency. Most recently, the employee was in the Way Department -- which is primarily responsible for outdoor maintenance of PAT property.

The man was 61 years old and last worked on Feb. 12.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, 376 Port Authority employees have tested positive for the coronavirus.
