SOUTH UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A 94-year-old man is accused of inappropriately touching women at a Fayette County rehabilitation facility.

His family members said they were shocked to hear about the charges. They said he's an outstanding family man with good character, and that even though he's 94 years old, he's independent.

"It is unusual to see a 94-year-old committing acts like this," said Trooper Robert Broadwater with Pennsylvania State Police. "Mr. Massimini was observed inappropriately touching patients at the facility and then touching himself for pleasure."

"This is totally out of character for Uncle George," said his nephew, Mark Yakopovich. "He doesn't miss church. I just can't believe what I heard."

Yakopovich said Massimini's wife was a patient at the center before she died, which is what led him to volunteer there for the past eight years.

"I think both parties need to be checked out," he said. "Is the accusation a solid accusation stemming from their mental state?"

"The investigation is still ongoing," Broadwater said. "As of right now, it's not producing any more victims."

The director of the facility told Channel 11 Massimini is no longer a volunteer there.
