Officers say Gilbert was at the school in early February when she got into an argument with two students, and allegedly grabbed a pair of scissors and threatened the girls that she would stab them if they didn’t tell her their names.

Her attorney talked only to Channel 11′s Amy Marcinkiewicz, saying what happened in that classroom is not a crime.

“Gilbert is a pillar in this community. She bleeds black and red. She did nothing criminal,” said Gilbert’s attorney Steven Valsamidis.

Gilbert is facing misdemeanor charges of making terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment. Her attorney says she has not resigned as school board president.

She initially said she was resigning, but has now walked that back.
