Animal control, game warden called to Pittsburgh neighborhood after bear sighting

PITTSBURGH — A bear was spotted in a Pittsburgh neighborhood Thursday morning.

The bear was seen getting into garbage on Lemington Avenue in Lincoln-Lemington after 7 a.m. and someone called for police.

The state game warden and animal control were called to the area, but didn’t find the bear.

There have been several bear sightings across Pittsburgh in recent days.

Just last week, there were several bear sightings in Mt. Washington, Overbrook and the South Side slopes.

If you spot a bear, you are asked to call 911. People should also keep a distance and not feed the bear.
