Barn a total loss after lightning strikes tree, catches roof on fire

MCCANDLESS, Pa. — Lightning from storms rolling through Wexford early Sunday struck a tree and ignited an adjacent barn on fire.

According to officials from the Wexford Volunteer Fire Company, crews were called around 3:50 a.m. to the property on Old Farm Lane in McCandless. The blaze spread from the tree onto the barn roof. The structure was deemed a total loss before fire units arrived.
