Bethel Park pharmacy holds vaccination event

BETHEL PARK — Nearly 2,500 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 during an event Saturday at Spartan Pharmacy, after the event was rescheduled due to lack of vaccine doses last week.

Jodi Mitchell with Spartan Pharmacy said rescheduling the event was “a logistical nightmare.”

“Just trying to get in touch with people. Telling them not to come. When to come. You know all these people are confused. They’re all upset because it’s frustrating. Everyone’s worried they’re not going to get the vaccine,” she said.

But it all came together on Saturday morning. A line formed just before the clinic opened — with people anxious and ready to get their second dose of the vaccine.

“I’m excited to get my second. I got an auto immune deficiency so it’s been a rough year,” Barb Gross, of White Hall, said.

Mark Zamdorsky of Greensburg said he just wanted to get it over with.

“So we can live a life. Go do something. Can’t do nothing. You know,” he said.

Hundreds of shots, one right after the other were given by an assembly line of volunteers. This continued all day.

“It’s been amazing The amount of nurses, doctors, students are coming out here giving up their time,” Mitchell said. “We plan to do as many clinics as we can. As much vaccine they sent us, we’ll get it out as soon as fast as we can.”
