Butler man charged with raping 15-year-old girl

A Butler man is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in his home, at one point strangling her and saying, “Don’t act like you don’t like it,” police said.

A criminal complaint alleges Tru Miranda, 19, invited three people to his West Cunningham Street apartment on Oct. 10, including the girl. The group watched TV in his room, with Miranda and the girl on his bed and the other two in a chair.

According to the complaint, Miranda said he and the girl began to “fool” around, and when the other two visitors left the room, he and the girl had sex. He told police he knew she was only 15 years old.

The girl told police that she repeatedly slapped his hands away from the front of her pants and told him no, according to the complaint. At one point, he slapped her leg back, she said.

She also said she accidentally slapped him in the face, which made him angry.

She said when the other visitors left the room, Miranda shut the door, then returned to the bed and began trying to undress her, according to the complaint. The girl said she kept telling Miranda “no,” but he persisted in removing her clothing and restraining her, replying, “I don’t care.”

At one point, Miranda placed a hand around her throat and began to strangle her, according to the complaint. She said she told him to stop and that she couldn’t breathe, but he said, “Don’t act like you don’t like it.”

She told police he then raped her.

Miranda is charged with rape, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors and related crimes.
