Cambria County man arrested for drugs, shooting fireworks at a house

CAMBRIA COUNTY — A Cambria County man was arrested after police said he was shooting fireworks toward an occupied home.

Timothy Lee Box, 41, of Sidman, was charged with felony risking a catastrophe, drug possession, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct after Pennsylvania State Police troopers responded to a home in the 900 block of Frankstown Road, Croyle Township, Cambria County, just before 4 a.m. April 29.

Police said it was then reported that Box was shooting off fireworks toward a nearby home.

While talking with police, Box reached into his pocket, and when police attempted to restrain him, the two troopers and Box fell off of the porch steps on which they were standing. He was restrained, searched and found in possession of cocaine and methamphetamine as well as a pocketknife in the same pocket into which he reached.

Neighbors reported that Box had been shooting off fireworks toward a 56-year-old Sidman woman’s home at approximately 7:30 a.m. on April 28 and at approximately 4:05 a.m. on April 29. Both the victim and a neighbor reported to troopers their mutual concern that the fireworks would cause a fire at the victim’s occupied home.

He was arraigned and is being held in the Cambria County Prison on $40,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 6.
