Cassotis: Expect a spring 2022 return of British Airways service to and from Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — Allegheny County Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis said she doesn’t expect British Airways to return its service to and from Pittsburgh International Airport until at least spring 2022. She made the comments, among others, as a guest of the Pittsburgh Technology Council’s Business as Usual daily webcast on May 3.

British Airways first suspended the four times per week service last spring amid the pandemic’s onset and, after multiple attempts to revive it, paused it indefinitely in the fall of 2020.

“We have been in constant touch with all of our airline partners throughout the pandemic, the international community included,” Cassotis said. “There was talk about BA coming back this summer and for all of you who, believe me, I would be the one who would wish that would happen, we can’t have them come back and not succeed.”
