With the annual fireworks display canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many thought this year’s also wouldn’t happen. Now that it’s back on, many Channel 11 viewers have reached out with questions and concerns.

Mayor Bill Peduto said plans are still being finalized around the events and locations. Block permits will be allowed this year and there will be no fees.

Peduto also said there will be no capacity limits for events after Gov. Tom Wolf ended COVID-19 mitigation efforts Memorial Day weekend.

“We will be encouraging safe distance between people in setting up blankets or any other type of seating, but we don’t anticipate any capacity limits other than those that already exist with the park,” Peduto said.
