Boy, 13, hit by vehicle on McKnight Road

PITTSBURGH — A teenage boy was hit by a vehicle Saturday night along McKnight Road in Pittsburgh’s Summer Hill neighborhood, Channel 11 News has learned.

Investigators said police, fire and emergency crews were called shortly after 8:30 p.m. to McKnight Road, near Ivory Avenue.

Bridgette Johnson said she received a phone call at work that her 13-year-old son, Moriyon, had been hit by a vehicle.

"I get a phone call that my son was on the highway – hit -- and I'm at a loss for words. And I'm not sure what’s going on or what happened," she said.

Johnson said Moriyon, who is being treated at Children’s Hospital, has a fractured leg and a lot of swelling. While her son is recovering, she told Channel 11 that she has more questions than answers.

"My question is what were both kids doing near the highway and especially at that time of night," Johnson said.

Johnson said she reached out to the parents of the friend Moriyon was with, but they have yet to speak with her.

"It's just hurtful that this other parent hasn't made contact with me to let me know what happened," she said.

Authorities have not released details of the accident.
