Pittsburgh crews working to fill potholes with help from the community

PITTSBURGH — As spring starts to slowly impact our region, from blooming flowers to the smell of fresh cut grass, we are also dealing with the aftermath of an active winter; and that means an abundance of potholes.

“They need to try to get them patched up.”

Pittsburgh residents voiced their frustrations to Channel 11 concerning the plethora of potholes this season.

“I don’t understand how people drive around here without having a truck.”

And, road crews throughout the City of Pittsburgh have heard your frustrations and are in the process of fixing the problem.

The city is holding a pothole blitz, which was announced on social media.

People throughout the community participated right away, complaining about crumbling streets and gigantic gaping holes right in the middle of busy roads.

On Wednesday, city crews will begin working 12-hour shifts to repair roads throughout the city. But, the city needs to know where the issues are.

If you have a pothole on your street, you are asked to call 3-1-1.

The program will end next week as crews will shift to street resurfacing work on Monday.
