Guns, drugs, money found during investigation into Clairton shooting near school

CLAIRTON, Pa. — Guns, drugs and money were found during an investigation into a shooting that put a school in Clairton on lockdown on Thursday, police said.

Shots were fired about 1 p.m. on Park Avenue, briefly putting Clairton Education Center on lockdown. Police said no one was hit by the gunfire, but a 25-year-old man was hurt when he fell while being shot at.

Two juveniles who ran from the area were detained by police. It was discovered that one of them, a 14-year-old who was seen trying to get rid of heroin, was responsible for the shooting, police said.

“A criminal referral was made through the juvenile justice system against the youth to include allegations of aggravated assault, narcotics and firearms offenses,” police said in a news release.

Detectives helping with the investigation spotted a wanted felon, 24-year-old Jameil Greene, among a group of four men sitting inside a car parked on Marion Circle. Greene, who was carrying a gun that had been reported stolen, ran from the detectives as they approached him, but he was quickly arrested, police said.

The three other men who were in the car with Greene -- 24-year-old Tyrieke Hammonds, 20-year-old Deonte Reddick and 20-year-old Hazeon Kidd -- were also seen with guns, police said.

The men were then found to have drugs, including marijuana, oxycontin, fentanyl and heroin, police said. And, collectively, they had about $10,000 in cash on them.

All four men were charged with firearms and narcotics offenses through the federal court system.
