Cleanup underway after flooding forces Penn Hills park to close

PENN HILLS, Pa. — On any ordinary day during the summer, the recreation and picnic area at Penn Hills Community Park would be bustling with visitors, but on Friday, the community's busiest park is closed after flooding.

Water and mud covered everything from the roadways to the baseball field and three pavilions which are rented a year in advance.

Crews have been working since the water receded Thursday evening to get the park back open for the weekend. They've been scraping the ground, pressure washing and sanitizing the pavilions and clearing a tree off of the roadway.
