Death of teen hit, killed by train ruled accidental

JEANNETTE, Pa. — A teen died last week after he was hit by a train in Jeannette, leaving behind a newborn son.

Jonathan Brown, 16, was walking on the tracks when the train approached and struck him. The coroner ruled the death accidental.

"All he wanted was to be a great dad," said his sister, Elizabeth Wargovich. "He was so good with kids … his niece, he loved her to pieces. He was a really kind-hearted kid."

Brown was walking to his girlfriend's house to visit his son when he was struck. He was wearing headphones and didn't hear the train coming near Magee Avenue and Sixth Street.

"They got into his phone, the last messages he had. He was texting his girlfriend Hollee and saying he was on his way to see his new baby, and that was really it," Wargovich said.

A GoFundMe has been established for Brown's son.

"He was so young and that little baby is never going to know what his dad was like," Wargovich said.
