"What resonates with people here are the people. And I was told that when I graduated from high school by my high school principal, and he learned I was coming out here to teach at Geneva. He said you'll love the people in that area because there the people take care of each other," Emrick said.

He said while he's a lifelong Pirates fan and the Penguins have given him plenty of reasons over the years to come to Pittsburgh, it's the people that he enjoys when he's in town.

Emrick will be broadcasting Wednesday night's matchup at PPG Paints Arena between the Penguins and St. Louis Blues on NBC Sports Network.
