DORMONT, Pa. — One of the most popular public pools in Pennsylvania, the Dormont Pool is usually packed with families during the summer months.
But because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the pool sat empty in 2020.

That will change in 2021, as Dormont council members want summer to feel a little more normal this year. During a meeting Monday night, they agreed to reopen the pool this summer.
It’s a plan that has been in the works since December 2020. Here’s a breakdown of its operating hours:
- Pool season runs from early June through late August
- Season ends in early September (Labor Day)
- Pool hours from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Council agreed to several safety guidelines. The large slide will not operate, the borough will not provide furniture, and there won’t be a rent charge for concession vendors.
The pool will also be open twice a week for day camp.
Council said this plan could change depending on how the pandemic progresses over the next few weeks.
