PITTSBURGH — Small businesses are really hurting because of the coronavirus pandemic, and now the most popular social media platform has taken notice.

Facebook is stepping in to try to save small businesses through grants and give back during this time of uncertainty.

It’s part of Facebook’s $100 million fund to save small businesses. The social network announced that it is offering cash grants to help 30,000 businesses in more than 30 countries.

Ferrante’s already taken out two small business loans. Ferrante says the Facebook grant money will help, but he admits he’s skeptical.

“You kinda think it’s like a catch. So if they’re gonna offer $4,000 and I don’t know how much cash they’re actually gonna give you. We all do know that Facebook ads work. So any little bit helps,” Ferrante said.

Businesses must be up and running for at least one year and must have two to 50 employees.

Small business owners can apply for the grants through their website.
