Family of North Shore stabbing victim says he was in wrong place at wrong time

PITTSBURGH — The family of a man stabbed to death Sunday morning on the North Shore is speaking out.

Dulane Cameron, 24, was a "good kid," according to his grandfather, Paul Edwards.

"Wrong place, wrong time," Edwards said.

Cameron's family told Channel 11 he was there hanging out with friends before going back to school.

Pittsburgh police said Joden Rocco, 24, got into a fight with Cameron and stabbed him in the neck. Cameron died at the scene.

Detectives told Channel 11 the two did not know each other and had no prior interaction.

Channel 11 obtained cellphone video from a witness showing the moments before the fatal stabbing.

In the video, you can hear someone say, "You wanna get stabbed?"

Police confirmed the shirtless man with his back to the camera is Rocco.

After the stabbing, police said Rocco ran a couple of blocks away, flagged down a marked police cruiser, got in the back and asked for a ride home.

Families close to the victim started a petition asking the district attorney and police to look into ethnic intimidation charges, but both agencies say there's no evidence of that.
