Fire crews respond to smoke at North Hills Middle School

ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Fire crews responded to smoke at North Hills Middle School in Ross Township on Monday.

Investigators confirm police and fire units were called to the school on Rochester Road around 10:40 p.m.

The smoke started in the home economics room, according to Lauren Gardens VFD Chief Ray Hilldenbrand.

Hillenbrand believes either a cooktop was left on or there was an electrical short.

No injuries have been reported.

There is no major damage, according to Hillenbrand.

The fire marshal is investigating.
