A Pittsburgh firefighter was rushed to the hospital from the North Side Wednesday afternoon after fighting a fire on Compromise Street.
“Someone on the other street, an off-duty firefighter, said he heard a loud explosion in back, then saw a fireball,” said Greg Lowman, battalion chief. “Early reports said the fire started in the basement.”
There were some scary moments because investigators thought an 11-year-old was trapped, but no one was home.
The firefighter who was hurt will be OK.
