Former local volunteer firefighter sentenced to prison for arsons

MUNHALL, Pa. — A former volunteer firefighter in Munhall was sentenced to prison Wednesday for intentionally setting two fires last year.

Ryan Laubham pleaded guilty in August to arson for the fires on Crawford Avenue in December 2018. He told investigators he did it because he “was bored.”

Laubham was sentenced Wednesday to 18 to 36 months in prison and seven years of probation.

Laubham’s attorney asked the court for house arrest so he can continue his treatment and education, which prosecutors didn’t fight. However, the judge said he couldn’t just let Laubham go home because the fires could have turned into homicide.
