Irwin woman, 2 children found safe in South Carolina

IRWIN, Pa. — UPDATE (9/18/18): A woman and her two children have been found in South Carolina after last being seen Monday in Irwin.

Irwin police said 22-year-old Champale Humphrey-Biglow and her 2-year-old and 4-month old children are safe. They were located in Richland County, South Carolina.

Police said they tried calling Humphrey-Biglow Tuesday morning and she picked up. She was with her aunt, who told police they were at Humphrey-Biglow’s mother’s house.

ORIGINAL STORY: Irwin police are searching for a woman and her two children, who they said may be in danger.

Police said Champale Humphrey-Biglow, 22, who is with her 2-year-old and 4-month old children, made suicidal threats and left with them from their Pennsylvania Avenue home between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Monday.

The father called police when he noticed his children, who he has custody of, were gone.

Police said Humphrey-Biglow was reportedly spotted at a Walmart in Irwin between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Police said they think Humphrey-Biglow turned her phone off after they tried to ping her cellphone and tap into her GPS navigation system.

"According to the grandmother of the children, Champale has made reference that she will drive a vehicle with the kids in it and drive it over a hill," said Irwin Patrolman Bill Sambo.

Humphrey-Biglow is a black female, has brown eyes, weighs 189 pounds and is 5 feet, 4 inches tall, according to police.

She is driving a white 2014 Chevy Equinox with Colorado plate VQM776, according to police.

Humphrey-Biglow moved to Irwin two weeks ago, police said.

According to police, Humphrey-Biglow has mental health issues.
