Joe's Crab Shack in Robinson closes

ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Joe's Crab Shack in Robinson Township has closed its doors as more than 40 locations nationwide have shut down.

A sign posted on the door says, “Sorry we’re permanently closed.” An auction company was parked in the parking lot Wednesday morning.

"I am still shocked this is happening to us," employee Valerie Schwartz said. "I spent a lot of time here. A lot of time. Six years, called off one time. I spend more one with these people than I do my husband."

Schwartz told Channel 11 they learned of the closure Tuesday.

“It's sad. I feel bad for the people that have no place to go right now. Single moms with kids, and no place to go,” Schwartz said. She said there was just a supply delivery.

"When we saw that truck, we said we are good. They're not going to close us down why would they give us a truck and yesterday we closed."

CNBC reported that the restaurant chain’s parent company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy because of falling sales.

The Robinson Township location has already been removed from the restaurant chain’s website. The only location still listed for the Pittsburgh-area is in Station Square.
