Kennywood still seeking workers for Halloween events

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — October is right around the corner and Kennywood is getting ready to resume it’s Halloween events.

A new festival called Phantom Fall Fest will kick off next Friday and Idlewild’s Hallowboo will resume this weekend. Kennywood will be open during the day for family-friendly fun and at night for the spooky thrills and scares.

“We didn’t get to have these events last year because we closed early in 2020,” Kennywood spokesperson Nick Paradise said.

However, they are still seeking to hire more than 100 workers between both parks for the Halloween events.

“We are in the mist of another hiring push to not just bring people into work the usually rides and food beverages, but also scare actors and those who will bring it to life as a festive Halloween event,” Paradise said.

Staffing has been a challenge for many industries during the pandemic. Paradise said they are paying up to $17 an hour for positions and are offering other incentives.

“If you work a certain amount during this event for the 4 -5 weeks it runs you get an extra bonus,” he said.

A job fair is being held Sept. 22 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Kennywood. If you can’t make it, you can apply online: https://www.kennywood.com/employment.
