Local high school soccer team suspended during hazing investigation

PENN HILLS, Pa. — The Penn Hills School District has suspended the boys soccer team as they investigate alleged hazing in the program.

The district confirms that an incident took place Tuesday.

According to a parent whose child is on the team, the incident happened during the team's "Hell Week" with early morning practices starting at 5 a.m.

The parent told Channel 11 the soccer coach left to go to work and "there was no supervision for the team."

"Cancel these morning practices because if the coach is not there, then anything can happen. Until we know for certain, there is no reason to penalize all the kids," Brian Bunce said.

Channel 11 reached out to the Penn Hills police chief, who said his office wasn't contacted, but he has remained in touch with the district.

The Penn Hills superintendent said if they believe anything criminal occurred during the incident, they will contact police.
