Local ice cream shops named among the state’s best

PITTSBURGH — Are you into rocky road or is mint more of your flavor when it comes to ice cream? Two local ice cream shops were ranked among the state’s best.

Betsy’s Ice Cream in Mt. Lebanon was ranked at No. 4 by visitpa.com. The website said the shop has “super-premium ice cream, sorbet, frozen yogurt” and more. The shop’s website said their ice cream “starts with a custom-blended, hormone-free & all-natural base” and there are 28 flavors for customers to choose from each day.

Coming in a No. 8 on the list is Kerber’s Dairy in North Huntingdon. Visitpa.com says this creamery has been “recognized by the National Ice Cream Retailers Association.” The dairy’s website says it “uses the best ingredients and a touch of creativity” to make their products and ice cream, which comes in cones, pre-packs and bulk containers.
