Lottery players lining up for a chance to win 2nd highest Mega Millions jackpot

PITTSBURGH — The Mega Millions jackpot continues to grow and local stores are seeing a steady stream of ticket buyers hoping to win a piece of the prize money.

By Wednesday afternoon, the Mega Millions jackpot had soared to $750 million, making it the second highest jackpot in the game’s history.

The pandemic has caused financial problems for many people, but Stephania Badamo, a clerk at Pine Run Market in Freedom, told Channel 11 some are willing to spend a few dollars for the chance to win life changing money.

“It has been so busy, people coming in all day. They’re excited to win, spending their money,” Badamo said.

The next Mega Millions drawing will be Friday night.

The odds of matching all six numbers drawn is greater than 1 in 300,000,000.

This is the first time since October 2018 that the Mega Millions jackpot has surpassed $600 million.

A winning ticket in Friday’s drawing would likely be the third largest lotto prize in U.S. history.

Mega Millions drawings are shown during WPXI Tonight at 11 p.m.
