Major parking changes coming to narrow Stowe Township street

STOWE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — People in Stowe Township will have to adjust to major parking changes on a tight and narrow roadway.

Most homes on Race Street don’t have driveways, and many people who live there have more than one car.

Starting on July 19, people will only be allowed to park on one side of the street. Cars parked on the other side will be tagged and towed away.

Township officials said people who live there will have the option to buy up to two personal parking spots in nearby lots. Good for one year, the assigned spots are $125 and are first come, first served.

People are seeing both sides of the change. On one hand it’s a matter of public safety for emergency vehicles, but on the other, it could become a big inconvenience for residents.

“I understand the reason behind it because I was actually thinking myself when we first moved here that if I had a bigger vehicle … even myself, I would struggle because of how narrow it is,” Greg Ford, of Stowe Township, said.
