Man dies after being shot in head in Pittsburgh neighborhood

PITTSBURGH — A man who was shot in the head Wednesday night died after he showed up at a Pittsburgh hospital, police said.

Demarco Mahone, 26, was shot about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday on North Franklin Street in the city’s Manchester neighborhood.

Police were alerted to the shooting by a ShotSpotter notification. While officers were searching for a scene or victims, they were told Mahone showed up at a hospital in critical condition.

Mahone died just after 11:30 p.m., according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Detectives with the Violent Crime Unit are investigating.
