SPRINGBORO, Pa. — THURSDAY UPDATE: Suspect Kenneth Martell was killed during a confrontation with police Thursday morning in a northern suburb of Chicago, according to WMAQ-TV.
An officer saw Martell sitting in a parked car in a remote area, and when the officer approached the vehicle, Martell pulled two handguns on him, according to WMAQ.
A struggle ensued, and the officer shot Martell, according to WMAQ.
State police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a homicide earlier this week in Crawford County.
Investigators said Kenneth Martell, 36, of Springboro, Pennsylvania, killed Theodore Garver inside a home on Parker Road, then moved his body to another location, where it was found by police.
Investigators believe theft was the motive for the homicide. They say Martell used a handgun to force others to help cover up the slaying, telling them he went to Garver's home to rob him but ended up killing him.
Anyone with information about Martell should contact state police in Meadville at 814-322-6911.
