McCandless residents concerned about development proposal in Ross

ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A proposed development in Ross Township has residents of neighboring McCandless upset because of where it sits in relation to their property.

The proposal to replace an old liquor includes a 5-story apartment building and several businesses. 
McCandless residents who live in the abutting neighborhood are concerned parking and trash will impact them, but because the development isn't in their community they have no say.

“We're concerned about  a little bit of overreach,” McCandless resident Scott Metzger said. “Really just the impact it’s going to have on our neighborhood and our ability to enjoy our property.”

Currently there is a rule which requires a 50-foot buffer zone between any development and a neighboring community, but the developer’s application asks to have that adjusted.

The Ross Board of Commissioners is set to vote on a conditional use permit for the property Monday. A zoning board meeting will address the issue of the buffer zone on Wednesday.
