Mice droppings discovered at Waterfront TGI Friday's

HOMESTEAD, Pa. — The Allegheny County Health Department discovered evidence of mice during an inspection at TGI Fridays' Waterfront location Monday.

According to the alert posted on the ACHD website, inspectors found mouse droppings under booth cushions in the dining room and at the bar cooler. Inspectors also found a dead mouse, fresh droppings and nesting in a box of cups in dry storage.

Mouse droppings were also found in the manager's office, the report said.

The restaurant was ordered by the ACHD take corrective actions such as removing rodent droppings, deep cleaning floors and storing food in rodent-proof totes.

A manager at the restaurant told Channel 11 that those and other violations observed have been fixed, adding every possible hole that a mouse could get in has been plugged and the entire restaurant was cleaned.

TGI Fridays issued the following statement:

“The health and safety of our guests and team members is a top priority for TGI Fridays. Due to intense flooding in the immediate vicinity of the Waterfront restaurant, the restaurant experienced an increase in rodents from the surrounding areas. Our restaurant took swift and immediate action to ensure the affected areas were effectively cleaned and treated. The Health Department recently visited, and we remain open for business after taking action on their recommendations. No evidence of rodent activity was found in or near our food storage or prep areas, and we stand by our 'A' rating. We are working with our partners at Ecolab, and with the Allegheny County Health Department, to eliminate any future incidents.”
