Discovery of $1.2M during traffic stop cracks money laundering ring, police say

FALLOWFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police in Fallowfield have arrested three people they say were involved in a money laundering scheme and living a lavish lifestyle.

Police say Tyler Hoberman, his wife Jennifer and her father John Kusajtys were all unemployed and laundering the money through a fake company called First Choice Home Improvements.

Police say that money bought them an inground pool for $100,000, a high-end boat, expensive cars and motorcycles, designer clothes and more.

Last September, Tyler Hoberman was caught in Ohio with $1.2 million in the bed of his pickup truck. This happened while he was on probation after pleading guilty to drugs and money laundering the year before and forfeiting $2.4 million.

Hoberman allegedly told officers his father in law transported marijuana for him in his truck and motor home. Court papers allege his father in law and his wife knowingly profited from the money laundering scheme and that his wife packaged at least $1 million in vacuum sealed bags in a suitcase to California.

Investigators seized all of their cell phones, and discovered one text sent from Jennifer last September that said, "Why should I get a job when I'm still married to the biggest weed distributor in Western PA."
