More than dozen cars shot with paintballs in Pittsburgh neighborhood

PITTSBURGH — More than a dozen cars were found shot up with paintballs Wednesday morning in Pittsburgh’s Brighton Heights neighborhood, police said.

Neighbors woke up to yellow paint splashed on their cars parked along California Avenue. They said they heard popping sounds comparable to fireworks late Tuesday night into early Wednesday before realizing the damage that had occurred.

One paintball went through a car’s taillight.

“There are so many places where you can go responsibly and use paintballs and have paintball fights and battles. You don’t need to go out damaging property,” Jack Penchoff, of Brighton Heights, said.

Neighbors said the incident is childish and not fair to the car owners who are already strapped for cash because of the pandemic.

Police have not identified who is responsible.
