Mother accused of setting fire to Stowe Township home while children inside

STOWE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A woman is accused of setting a fire Friday morning that engulfed a home in Stowe Township while her three children were inside.

Terita Collins, 41, is charged with arson and endangerment for the fire on Valley Street.

Police said Collins was inside the home with her children, ages 5, 17 and 20. Two of her children had to climb out of their second-floor bedroom windows to escape. Collins and her 5-year-old daughter were rescued by two Stowe Township police officers.

Investigators determined the fire was started in a second-floor bathroom.

Collins, her three children and both police officers were taken to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, according to police.
