North Strabane police arrest 2 men accused of trying to lure children online

North Strabane police arrested and charged two men who they say engaged in sexual conversations with people they thought were underage, but were really undercover police officers.

Andrew DuBois of New York was just taken into custody Thursday night.

"He expressed a sexual interest in boys from 6 to 16 years old,” said Officer Gary Scherer. “He was actively, by his own words, actively seeking a 6- to 16-year-old boy or boys to have sex with."

Police also arrested an Erie man after they say he had sexual conversations with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl.

Steven Green was taken into custody while he was visiting his parole officer Wednesday.

Paperwork says Green initiated the chat room conversations a year ago and they happened in an online "teen chatroom” where he used the handle “Steve from Erie.”

Green asked the undercover officer if "she liked older men" and then went on to exchange "hundreds of text messages." Green even told the undercover officer to "change his name in her phone so her mother wouldn't find out."

Police say the suspect had a violent background. In 1996, was convicted of shooting a Pennsylvania police officer.

Green is set to go back before a judge in the next few weeks. He's sitting in the Washington County Jail unable to post bond.
