Threat against Pittsburgh high school determined to not be localized, arrest made in Missouri

PITTSBURGH — A threat made on social media that investigators feared involved a local high school resulted in the arrest of a man in Missouri.

According to Pittsburgh police, the threat targeted Central High School nationwide and actually was not specific to the Pittsburgh area. The message was generalized and was circulating out-of-state. As a result, police determined there was no active threat locally.

In an email to families on Saturday morning, high school administrators alerted parents of the investigation and possible threat.

Detectives with the Western PA Fusion Center and Joint Terrorism Task Force helped the investigation.

According to its website, Central Catholic is a college preparatory high school for boys with a typical graduating class of about 220 seniors each year.
