Pennsylvania congressman sick with COVID-19 released from Walter Reed

WASHINGTON — Pennsylvania Congressman Glenn Thompson was released from Walter Reed National Medical Center after becoming sick with a breakthrough case of COVID-19.

According to a news release, Thompson began experiencing cold-like symptoms Friday afternoon and was quickly tested for COVID-19. While he was vaccinated, the test results came back positive.

Out of an abundance of caution, Thompson was taken to Walter Reed for treatment. He was released Friday evening and has returned home to recover.

Officials said he was in good spirits despite being ill.

Thompson, a life-long resident of Centre County, represents Pennsylvania’s 15th District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
