People arrive hours ahead of opening of AHN mass vaccination clinic

MONROEVILLE, Pa. — Saturday marked Day Two of Allegheny Health Network’s mass vaccination clinic in Monroeville. Another long line of people formed, some arriving hours before the doors opened.

“We missed Friday. So here we are Saturday. And we came up here at 4:00 in the morning,” said Johnette Williams from Penn Hills.

The line stretched down the sidewalk of the Next Tier Connect offices and into the parking lot.

“I do HVAC and I’m in a lot of different people’s houses. It’s the wise thing to do. So why not?,” said Jason Duschl from Plum.

Over the two-day clinic, a total of 13,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine were given.

Clinics in several states were shut down after a number of people reported adverse reactions to the shot. Despite that concern, some said they’re ready to get back to normal.

“A little bit nervous. Like how quickly this vaccine came up and everything kind of has me on edge, but I kind of want to get it out of the way. I’m tired of COVID-19,” Williams said.

AHN has another clinic scheduled for Monday in Monroeville. 6,500 doses of the Pfizer vaccine are available, but you will have to schedule an appointment in advance.
