Pittsburgh files brief in support of Philadelphia lawsuit challenging state gun preemption laws

PITTSBURGH — Lawyers for the City of Pittsburgh Tuesday filed court papers, supporting Philadelphia’s challenge of certain state gun laws.

Philadelphia filed the lawsuit last year, challenging the state general assembly for blocking cities from enforcing gun safety policies.

Pittsburgh’s filing argued that the general assembly is preventing cities from enforcing their own gun safety laws and as a result city residents, particularly minorities, are the victims of gun violence.
