Pittsburgh home condemned after stolen car crashes into it; police searching for driver

PITTSBURGH — A stolen car crashed into a home in Pittsburgh’s East Allegheny neighborhood on Sunday, police said.

The crash happened in the 1400 block of Compromise Street around 2 p.m.

Police said the vehicle was found to be stolen. The driver and other people inside the car ran from the scene, officials said.

No one was hurt, but the Department of Permits, Licenses, and Inspections determined the structure to be condemned. The Red Cross was called to help the residents of the home.

Gail Kyles was inside the home when the car crashed into it. She said she was only about 4 feet away.

“I looked up, and the wall was down. The plaster was down. Lights was blinking. I could see the car wheel,” Kyles said.

The car was removed from the home and towed.

Police are investigating.
