Pittsburgh hotel evacuated after heavy smoke spotted on 24th floor

PITTSBURGH — A downtown Pittsburgh hotel was evacuated quickly Tuesday night after smoke was spotted inside.

The Westin Convention Center Hotel in the 1000 block of Liberty Avenue was evacuated after smoke was seen on the 24th floor. This included the Federated Tower as well.

People staying at the hotel told Channel 11 a fire occurred on the 24th floor and that guests with rooms on the 22nd floor or higher were being moved to lower floors.

Crews were able to quickly put the fire out, within about 20 minutes. There were no reports of any injuries.
