Pittsburgh police looking for graffiti vandals

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Police Graffiti Squad is looking for the vandals who spray-painted graffiti tags throughout the city in recent weeks.

Police said one of the tags that read "Gipsy" is typically accompanied by another unreadable tag found on the North Side. They are often several feet wide and placed in high-visibility areas.

A witness who saw one of the tags being painted described the vandals as two white males, one with a beard, according to police.

Police said another tag that reads "Waxn" is found throughout East Liberty, mainly on Penn Avenue. Around 40 light poles have been tagged on Penn Avenue between 5th Avenue and the Wilkinsburg border.

Anyone with information is asked to call 412-495-6052.
